COVID-19 on the rise in the USA

Jeff Steele

COVID-19 looks to be back on the rise in many parts of the United States.  The number of daily cases throughout the US is now reaching daily numbers not seen since March and April.

With almost 35,000 cases reported yesterday in the US, the only good news I can find with it is that these cases are spread across the country and not concentrated in one given area the way it was in New York, Michigan, or New Orleans back in the spring.

the healthcare system has a chance to keep up with hospitalizations being spread around to many different health systems.

That being said, wearing masks, washing your hands, and social distancing should be adhered to at all costs.  We are now 6 months into this crisis and the news on therapeutics and vaccines, although sometime encouraging, is not what any of us expected back in March.  We are rested on the fact that there would be a therapeutic by this summer and a vaccine by the end of the year.

Let's all do our part to follow strict personal isolation to help stop the spread.  this will give the scientific community time to come up with solutions that are safe and effective.

As you can see by the graphs in this blog, US counties with 75 or more cases on 23JUN2020 are in the predominant hot spot areas you hear on the news.   Florida, California, and Arizona.

But counties with 25 or more cases are still scattered throughout the US.  You can see in the image below that COVID-19 is alive and well.

Let's all do our part to help bring these numbers closer to 0.  Let's eradicate the disease before we have a vaccine or therapeutic.
